How to break Internet Addiction?

Internet Addiction. No time for her.
No one really thought that one day we will land into this problem of Internet Addiction.

Googling everything.
Blogging everything.
Facebook.
Tweet. Retweet everything.
Download. Download and still downloading.
Skype whole day.
Online gaming.

Do you find yourself in a similar situation?
Do feel that the Internet has taken over your life?
Take a break.

While researching on this topic, I got to learn this is called Internet Addiction Disorder

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
“Internet addiction disorder (IAD) is now more commonly called problematic internet use (PIU) or compulsive internet use (CIU).Other overlapping terms include internet overuse, problematic computer use or pathological computer use – and even iDisorder. These terms avoid the word addiction and are not limited to any single cause, but only reflect a general statement about excessive computer use that interferes with daily life.”
The first steps towards breaking this addiction is understanding the causes. The most common causes are:
  • Loneliness
  • Shyness
  • Depression
  • Lack of emotional support

Try to understand the causes and see which areas of your life need improvement.

Different Types of Computer or Internet Addictions and their effects on our life
  • Information overload: Too much online surfing leads to decreased productivity at work and fewer interactions with family members.
  • Compulsions: Excessive time spent in online activities such as gaming, trading of stocks, gambling and even auctions often leads to overspending and problems at work.
  • Cybers*x addiction: Too much surfing of p*rn sites often affects real-life relationships.
  • Cyber-relationship addiction: Excessive use of social networking sites to create relationships rather than spending time with family or friends may destroy real-life relationships.

Physical Symptoms of Online Addiction
  • Backache
  • Headaches
  • Weight gain or loss
  • Disturbances in sleep
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Blurred or strained vision

How can someone get help?
There are organizations like Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery which provide help to overcome addictions.

My verdict
Life is meant to be lived, to be enjoyed. So live physically and experience reality. Don’t condemn yourself or restrict yourself to the digital prison. It’s called the “web”. Use it but do not get trapped in the “web”.

Does God Exist? The story of the Buddha, a religious person and an atheist

One day in the early morning Gautama Buddha was sitting in a garden quietly with his disciples. A man arrived silently and stood in the shadows, that man was a great devotee of Lord Rama. He had built many temples across the country, he had devoted many years in the service of Lord Rama. He would always chant Rama's name and contemplate on Rama's greatness. He was old and close to his last years. Even after many years of dedicated spiritual effort he was not realized. He wanted to know for sure if there is a God or not? When he heard about the realized one (Buddha) , he came to get his doubt cleared. When he felt nobody would notice him talking to Siddhartha, the Buddha. He asked Gautama " O enlightened one, Please tell me the truth! and truth only .  Is there a god ?" Buddha, from his intuition knew that man to be a great devotee of Lord Rama, he looked at that man with seriousness and said " No, My friend. There is no god ".  Buddha's disci...

Going with the flow of Life

Imagine a river flowing freely, passing through all rocks. Imagine a river which knows how to find its own path and destination. Nobody tells the river where to go. It is natural for the river to flow. Now, compare this river with our life. We could learn some lessons from this river analogy and hence improve our life. 1. Life goes in one direction : so we must never look back at our past. 2. We must be dynamic and that’s more natural : Being dynamic means there is energy flow. It also means we are flexible and can easily adapt to changes. 3. We have a destination & we can find our path : In life, we all have some dreams which we want to accomplish. 4 . In life we will encounter some obstructions: These obstructions are just like the rocks. We will be able to overcome them easily if we do some effort. Trying to fight the resistances will prevent us from reaching our goal. 5. There are many turns in life : Just as the river goes through many turns,...

IF you are WORRYING it means you are NOT LIVING

If you are worrying it means you are not living. It means you are simply wasting your valuable time in vain. It means you are simply wasting your opportunities. It means you are happier with your past & that you are not enjoying the present moment. The universe has blessed us with a beautiful life. Be aware of this fact. Our destiny is in our hands. If we keep on worrying, we cannot progress in our life. We will be living in the past. We have a choice. We can choose to live in the Present. Worrying is a total waste of time. Ask yourself “If not NOW, WHEN will I LIVE?” Time does NOT wait for anyone. This is another fact we need to be aware of. Worrying is what robs our peace of mind, our happiness, our joy, our success… Give your worries a break. Free yourself from all worries (past pains, hurts, emotional wounds, anything that prevents you from living…) Put your burden of worries down. Then you feel light. Then you can LIVE. It’s very...
